How are funds raised?
Research Scientist at work (10Kb)Using our network of committed volunteers we organise fund-raising events across the region. Our events include: flag days, sponsored events, dances, parties, sales, coffee mornings, raffles and concerts.

We are delighted to assist anyone wishing to raise funds through sponsorship and in the past have benefited from sponsored runs, cycle rides, hair cuts, darts, coffee mornings, social evenings and dance marathons.Cheque presentation to the Lord Mayor of Newcastle upon Tyne and Mrs Monica Laverty, Chairperson TLRA (35Kb)

We are especially grateful for any legacies and the Tyneside Leukaemia Research Association is listed each year in the Law Society's Charity and Appeals Directory.

Much of our income is in the form of donations from charitable fund-raising organisations or simply from members of the public who wish to help.

The photograph (above right) is just such as an occasion when Dr Richard Webster BDS, his Mrs Monica Laverty, Chairperson TLRA, thanking the Lord & Lady Mayoress and guests at the Mansion House. (72Kb)wife Mrs Linda Webster and their two children, presented a cheque donation of monies raised in support of our Association to Mrs Monica Laverty, Chairperson of the Tyneside Leukaemia Research Association (on the right of the photograph above), in the presence of Lady Mayoress Councillor Jackie Slesinger, and Councillor David Slesenger, the Lord Mayor of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne, at our 2005 Annual Charity Coffee Morning at the Mansion House, Newcastle upon Tyne.

The photograph on the left is of Mrs Monica Laverty, Chairperson of the Tyneside Leukaemia Association, thanking the Lord and Lady Mayoress for their hospitality and also the generosity of guests at the Charity Coffee Morning.

Being an entirely voluntary organisation, with no paid staff, we have minimal administration expenditure. This allows all the money raised to be directed towards medical research into leukaemia and related diseases.
